Our Vineyard Terroir

Ketcham Estate is a small, family-owned boutique winery and estate vineyard known for exceptional wines crafted in the heart of the Russian River Valley.

With a deep passion for the land and surrounding community, Ketcham Estate produces outstanding wines from grapes grown right here on the estate, allowing each bottle to reflect the character and beauty of its origins.

Originally focused on premium Estate Grown Pinot Noir, Ketcham Estate now also produces award-winning Chardonnay, Viognier, and Estate Grown Pinot Noir Rosé—each thoughtfully crafted in small, annual releases.

This intimate scale and remarkable location allow Ketcham Estate to remain dedicated to creating exceptional wines and meaningful experiences to share with friends, family, and wine enthusiasts alike.

Our vineyard offers the ideal terroir for Pinot Noir—warm, sun-filled days balanced by cool evenings influenced by coastal breezes from the Pacific Ocean. “Terroir,” a French term meaning “a sense of place,” reflects the unique combination of land, climate, and natural elements that shape the flavor and character of each wine. A seasonal creek winds through the property for much of the year, supporting a healthy water table that nourishes the vines, while the rich, red loam soil provides an ideal foundation for growth.

The vineyard features a diverse selection of Pinot Noir clones—115, 626, 777, 828, and Pommard 4—offering a dynamic palette for blending. In the hands of winemaker Tami Collins, this diversity becomes a true expression of craftsmanship, resulting in wines that are both balanced and distinctive.

The vineyard is carefully tended by manager Roberto Ordaz and his family, whose decades of dedication and stewardship bring a deep sense of care and continuity to the land.
